At the end of it all, it isn't about being perfect. It's about absolutely loving what you're doing.

5.5 hours, crayola colored pencil. Reference from a screenshot of the Halo 3 finale, though it has been slightly altered.
This is one of the first drawings I can remember doing without having a graphite pencil touch the page. It was quite challenging, and I enjoyed it.

Entry for the Ultimate Fandom 3: Video Games. [link] I chose the video game Halo 3. This is for the category Characters.
(EDIT: oops I needed a description of why I chose this... here it goes) Description: The Master Chief, for me, is the embodiment of heroism and masculinity. Everything from the metal armour to his voice to the way the light reflects off his visor just makes me sigh with joy. How could I choose any other video game character to draw? Now, I must also talk about Cortana, since she appears in this picture as well. She falls more under the category "I find her really pretty and I enjoy drawing her" because I really don't like the direction they took her in halo 3. I like the halo 1 Cortana: spunky, stupid and PURPLE instead of blue. Heh. Cortana really bugs me as a character, because I feel like the MC doesn't need a female figure to be attracted to. I feel like it was forced in halo 3 to make the game more interesting. Yes, I've read the books. I know this opinion isn't based on much fact. But when you fancraze over something so immensely popular, you tend to want to make it your own... change it. So in my little world... I view these characters a bit differently. You all are welcome to have your own opinion. In essence, I chose Halo and the MC and Cortana because these characters have inspired creativity in me in a time in my life where creativity was extremely hard to come by. I think that's really what fanart is all about. Being creative about something you love, even though that something isn't yours to keep... because you make it your own in re-creating it. I take these characters, you all do, and we incorporate them into ourselves and into the way we live our lives.
I Agree with you in every point you said (Yes I really read that descripiton in whole) Just read the last Halo Novel today and now got all of them read. And I really like the "Original" Cortana from the first Halo more than the "newer" versions. But according to the novels, she changed, as well inside, as well as the Chief did and I think that slight attraction towards each other could be, as well, a result of their journey. I mean, they didn't overdo it with that little attraction in my opinion. It just adds some more salt to the soup and makes the whole story a bit more rich of content. But that is, of course, as you said my own opinion and I respect yours. Nice drawing. You caught tha up pretty good.
Thank you very much for your comment. I've only read the first three halo novels, and it was a while ago, so thank you for clarifying for me what is there. Yeah, it does bring something interesting, because us as humans are predisposed to romance. I can definitely agree with that. And I can also agree that you are right about them changing through their journey, no one can argue against that. To be human is to change, and they are both, in a way, very human. I imagine my disdain for Cortana probably originates from some subconscious fact that I'm jealous of her. .....at least, if we want to get psychoanalytical about this regardless, they're still fun to draw. Hehe. Thanks again for your words!
Yeah, John is just the coolest Hero ever. I'm glad they tried to imitate his voice in the German version of Halo 3. In halo 1 and 2 he just sounds like... a pencil pusher. Nothing masculine in that voice. And I really like his attitude. He NERVER loses a fight. Thinking that is the best way to win, indeed. I can unstertand your... jealousy pretty well
Heh, I haven't heard his voice in the German versions but I can imagine what you mean. I *really* like his voice. Thank you so much as well for the fave and watch! I love finding fellow halo fans.
And yeah, that's been said about his shoulder, and it *is* in the reference, though not as pronounced as I made it. Oh well!
Nice drawing. You caught tha up pretty good.
